A & E or the accident and emergency division of a good hospital needs specialized manpower to handle emergency cases. We refer to this department of healthcare as 'casualty' or 'emergency' as well. This division is active 24 hours and caters to all kinds of situations from burn injuries to heart attacks as soon as a patient arrives. Once the initial care is taken and the patient is safe enough then he is transferred to a special ward.

Only experienced doctors, nurses and attendants can be posted in such situations. Presence of mind and experience coupled with medical expertise in such critical conditions saves many lives.
